La Canonica di Tortorolo – An oasis of peace in a quiet village of Lomellina.
Tortorolo is a small and quiet village in Lomellina, in the province of Pavia, born and raised around a castle dating back to the XIV century and recently restored. The church, in its current form, dates back to the 1700s, but the original structure dates back more. Tortorolo is a fraction of the municipality of Mede, which is about 3 km away and where you can find supermarkets, shops and various services, as well as a hospital with first aid. Tortorolo is also about 10 km from Lomello, 40 km from Pavia, about 25 km from Vigevano and 70 km from Milan.
The house, in its current shape and size, dates back to the 1800s. Built in bricks, terracotta floors, wooden beams and a tile roof, it was completely renovated in the early 2000s, respecting the original dimensions, structure and materials. The property has an area of approximately 260sqm on two floors and at the back overlooks a beautiful garden of about 1300 sqm with a little covered porch where it is possible to build a swimming pool. From the entrance on the ground floor, characterized by a charming vaulted brick ceiling, you enter two living rooms, one of which with a fireplace and a wonderful large kitchen with fireplace and original wooden ceiling. Continuing on, there is a large and comfortable laundry room and a bathroom. A beautiful original stone staircase leads to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, one with a fireplace and two spacious bathrooms. The perimeter walls of the ground floor are entirely insulated (double wall with internal insulation), the floors are in ceramic tiles similar in size and appearance to Lombard terracotta, except in one of the bedrooms where it was possible to recover the original Lombard terracotta. The attic is fully insulated with fiberglass insulation and the three fireplaces are fully functional. The heating system is equipped with radiators with an LPG boiler, the tank of which is underground in the garden. Each room, with the exception of the bathrooms, is equipped with a hot / cold heat pump. All windows and patio doors have double glazing and mosquito nets. An alarm system is installed; the electrical, hydraulic and thermo-hydraulic systems are new and up to standard. The property is connected to the aqueduct. However, the site has already been prepared for the installation of a domestic well to irrigate the garden, now equipped with automatic irrigation connected to the aqueduct.
The choice of this property contributes to support the mission of Theodora onlus.
